London's Funky Furniture .... Squint Ltd.

I was in London during London Design Week.
I didn't know it at the time until I
walked by a cool pop-up shop in Kensington.
It was the incredible color that
pulled me into the showroom.
Squint Limited is the brainchild of Lisa Whatmough,
a very talented and colorful artisan.  All the furniture and
home accessories are hand crafted in beautiful
hand stitched patchwork.
Velvets not only cover chairs and sofas but
also pretty tables and lamps.
How gorgeous is this Victorian settee?
By painting the wood black, the shape
just jumps to the forefront and highlights
the beautiful patchwork.
Designs can be chosen from hot, hot colors
to subtle pastels.  Something for everyone.
Love this chair.
How much fun would it be to collage
an old piece of furniture?
Or cover an old lamp with material or paint the
whole black and then have it sit on top of a
brightly painted old piece of furniture?
In the basement of her shop were rows of
fun chandeliers with ribbons, beads  and
painted crystals.  Loved these.
Squint also invited a group of Japanese artists
to paint larger than life creatures on the walls.

Catherine of Squint Limited couldn't have
been nicer.  She let me roam through the
premises and just enjoy all the color.

Buyers can find Squint Limited in Liberty,
Conran and Designers Guild to name just
a few high end stores.

Check out their website ...
great fun!
